This modern and elegant choker is handmade in Kenya using recycled brass. It is part of the Ode A La Femme Katiopae collection by jewellery brand, Dear Katiopae.
Wimbi means 'wavy' in Swahili, and the wavy line of the choker reflects the twists and turns of life, a journey which we must embrace with grace. It also symbolises also the ebb and flow of the breath, the life-force that helps us to complete the journey.
The choker incorporates a cowrie shell which is traditionally used in Africa and other parts of the global South to represent the feminine.
