Electric Avenue Foxes Brixton London Art Print
This illustration has a few of the artist's favourite things in London: foxes, cherries and the spiders from Mars! All can be found in buzzing Electric Avenue, Brixton, home to the young, electric and eclectic - and David Bowie.
Built in the 1880s, Electric Avenue was the first market street to be lit by electricity. Today, the street contains traditional butchers and fishmongers but also hosts Brixton Market, selling a mix of African, Caribbean, South American and Asian foods. Look up to the roofs on Electric Lane to spot the almost realistic sculptures of foxes nibbling on their favourite cherries.
The Bowie memorial is right across the road opposite, and a subtle homage appears as a little red planet in this illustration.
